Makayla Chang, who also went by the name Kayla and Finn was a 16 year old girl very much like other teenage girls. She spent time with her friends, she went to school and occasionally she lied to her parent, in her case, her grandmother, Dolly who she lived with at the time. On March 17th, 2017 she posted on Facebook and asked that some friends join her at the local Tim Hortons. That was the last time anyone saw her. On her Facebook page , an unnamed friend writes about that final day. It came out, after she went missing, that, unknown to her grandmother, Kayla was staying on and off with 53 year old, Steven Bacon. Dolly said in a Chek News interview that the media had made it out that she had allowed her grandaughter to stay with this man but, as teenagers often do, Makayala had been lying about her whearabouts. Dolly knew about Steven and said he had developed a disturbing bond with her granddaughter and called her by the nickname "Baby Bird," which his daughter later said was a name he used to call him. Steven told Kayla in a letter that he wanted to adopt her and be her father but others have speculated there was a much more disturbing relationship going on behind the closed doors of his basement suite.
